Yes, in fact yahoo answers can be used as one of the fastest FAQ's in the world to get a response back. You can post a question and receive feedback and minutes. This is very crucial to inpatient people such as me. Id rather go through yahoo answers, ask a question wait 5 to 10 Min's (rarely your question wont get answered in under 24 hrs) and receive some feedback instead of hoping i type in the right keywords into Google or yahoo's search engines and receive 5,000,000 results of FAQ's about a typical question.
Yahoo Answers is very broad, You can ask basically anything and there will be a category for it. This also helps the traffic to your post by letting the people who are answering choose a topic about questions they will answer, rather then search through a long list of question. This also leads specialist/professionals or at least more people who know what they are talking about to your question.
For example: If i was a networking major i could just choose to answer a category of networking or computer related questions. Also another handy feature as soon as you've asked your question your question will appear on the "latest question" therefore your question will receive a ton of traffic.
Lastly, Answers is reliable 9 times out of 10, maybe not for a research paper necessarily unless the person sites that he is a professional in the typical field. However it is truthful information, there are some people who will try to post foolish answers but the Yahoo Answers staff tries to crack down on it. But you will get that anywhere you go right? because we both know that some people are just idiots. Never the less there are people who could testify that Yahoo Answers has changed their life, as for me, it has been a big help on how to find info about something quick, or ask a few silly question.
